Wednesday Form: Of a compliment

"These people aren't human...that workout is bananas!"

That's great...it does seem a bit crazy, but...Bananas?! This new fella showed up for evening class. The structure of class was a usual CF circuit. As a first-timer he did well to keep the pace. Afterward, that was his description. It was nice to hear. More often people are so ego-driven they go on about themselves and why they couldn't finish the class or how they usually train or blah blah, rather than have the courtesy to compliment the accomplishments and motivation CFers.

It's easy to take for granted what we do (the sheer number of exercises we do well) and the intensity at which we do it (a heart rate that other people who "workout" could never touch). The people at class were just human...not specialized competitors or paid athletes...merely everyday folks who don't think twice about pushing the physical limits. Show up, blow it out, go back to regular lives. Pretty nice compliment

It must be intimidating to walk through that door for the first time and see nothing but a floor covered in black mats, assorted weights, boxes, medicine balls, kettle-bells, and this crazy looking structure in the back corner with rings and such hanging from it. Not to mention that oversized dog-tag hanging above the entrance...if you didn't know any better you might think you were walking into some masochistic place of worship!! So, I applaud anyone who comes, stays, and returns or not returns, at least they gave it shot and if it's not for them it's not! That's ok too! But you never know when you might just introduce another Phreak to this masochistic place of worship!! ;)

Toot sweet. Write it down, shove it in your pocket and save it for a day when you need to be reminded.

I most certainly give props to ANYONE who walks in that door alone and do my best to welcome, encourage and enlighten. Our enthusiasm speaks for itself
